Job duties include the following:

  • Perform bridge and small structure inspections and complete any associated reports and load ratings.
  • Perform hand and software supported bridge analysis and design computations.

Requirements for this Position

              The Construction RPR will work in a team environment.  The Construction RPR is responsible for keeping track of daily construction operations to assure that the project is being constructed per the contract documents and construction plans.  They are there to reduce, and if possible eliminate, the potential for construction defects or deficiencies.  The RPR must be organized, communicate effectively with the Client, Contractor, and Engineer, and always research and plan ahead as much as possible.

              Position Duties & Responsibilities

               

              • Reviews project documents for errors, seeking resolution before construction letting or preconstruction conference, whichever is applicable.
              • Attends public, preconstruction, scheduling, partnering, and other meetings as required.
              • Responds to inquiries from local public officials, news organizations, and other interested parties.
              • Meets with affected property owners in the project area and works to resolve access restriction issues, drainage problems, and other issues that may arise during construction.
              • Maintains all project files in an orderly and usable manner including, but not limited to, daily project reports, submittals, certifications, invoices, correspondence, and change orders.  Oversees inspectors’ work doing the same, including daily reports of materials placed, locations of work, work interruptions, contractor workforce size and composition, test results, and any other related information.
              • Prepares progress reports, special reports relating to problems and delays, and examines and approves daily field reports prepared by others.
              • Coordinates work assignments of inspectors.
              • Examines and approves contractor requests for payment.
              • Prepares final construction records per SJCA and client specifications.
              • Prepares as-built plans, field drawings, or sketches as necessary to implement and document minor changes to project specifications.
              • Represents SJCA and our clients in an honorable and professional manner.
              • Ensures that all project employees are safely performing work in compliance with OSHA and other applicable standards. Report deficiencies to the appropriate authority when necessary.
              • Position includes approximately 15% office coordination between phone and emails and 85% travel and remote work from a worksite.

                    SJCA Inc. is seeking a full-time CAD Drafter/Designer to support our Engineering department. The position is primarily office-based.  Some SJCA staff are currently approved to work a hybrid schedule with some days working remotely.

                    The CAD Technician/Designer will work in a team environment.  Under supervision of a Project Engineer, a CAD Technician/Designer will use Computer Aided Drafting & Design (CADD) software to assist in the development of plans, details, and bills of materials.  The CAD Technician/Designer will also be utilized for initial layout of basic horizontal and vertical geometry, roadway and structure layout, basic design computations, and quantity calculations.  The CAD Designer could help assist, guide, and train CAD Drafters. More experienced CAD Designers would also be relied upon to create 3D models of the design and to create cross sections from the model.

                    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position

                     

                    • An understanding of construction plans for highway and/or bridges.
                    • Understanding of models, sheets, dimensioning, and annotating.

                    Minimum Qualifications

                    • Minimum 6 years of experience with INDOT standards and design procedures, specific to roadway and bridge projects.
                    • Proficient in MicroStation
                    • Experience with GEOPAK/InRoads/OpenRoads Designer preferred

                      The Accounting and Administrative Specialist will divide time between supporting the Accounting functions and Human Resources and Administrative functions.  The ideal candidate will have prior experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, as well as prior Administrative Assistant experience.

                      Responsibilities include but not limited to:

                      • Create or update project billing rate tables in accounting software
                      • Assist with Billing and other A/R tasks
                      • Perform accurate A/P data entry in accounting software
                      • Create project certified payroll (billable rates by position) spreadsheets and submit to appropriate internal staff and to INDOT
                      • Assist with distribution of credit card statements to co-workers and with basic expense reimbursement processing.

                      • Other accounting or administrative duties as needed

                      Requirements for this Position

                      • Associate degree in Accounting.
                      • 1-2 years prior experience in Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable, with prior Administrative Assistant experience a plus.
                      • Proficiency in accounting software. Prior work with Deltek Ajera ERP software or other Accounting/ERP software experience a plus.
                      • Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, with high degree of proficiency in Excel.
                      • Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
                      • Possess excellent time management skills.
                      • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
                      • High level of accuracy.
                      • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment Positive, high-energy attitude.
