Where We Are:

SJCA Inc. holds offices in Indianapolis, IN, Evansville, IN and Columbus, OH. This candidate may work remotely, work in either the Indy north or south office, or use flex to come into either office at times that work best for the candidate.

Roles / Responsibilities:

The Project Manager’s main role will be to proactively manage and lead the Environmental Team’s projects. The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Utilize SJCA’s project management software program to manage projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring the completion of projects as per its contracted scope; monitor progress and performance against the project plan.
  • Design, communicate, and implement a project plan for completing the project.
  • Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones.
  • Identify, develop, and gather the resources to complete the project.
  • Coordinating with client, prime and sub consultant.
  • Developing and maintaining client relationships.
  • Schedules and manages for integration of quality management during all phases of a project.
  • Collaborates with other technical staff within the organization and delivers solutions that drive business value while also demonstrating compliance with regulations.
  • Conducts meetings and prepares reports to communicate the status of the projects to project team and client.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects.
  • Monitor and review quality standards and practices for work performed.
  • Attend various meetings such as field checks, public information meetings and public hearings.

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years project management experience (required)
  • PMI/PMP (Project Management Institute, Project Management Professional) certification.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience pursuing projects, leading a team, and communicating with clients.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication skills and design skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and recommend or resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
  • Excellent client management skills, marketing, and business development skills in addition to contacts/relationships with power clients.
  • Previous experience leading teams, managing staff, contracts and hiring staff for engineering projects.
  • Candidate must be an entrepreneurial thinker with a willingness to operate in a dynamic consulting environment.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.

    ARCHAEOLOGIST | INDIANAPOLIS, IN

    Overview / Responsibilities
    SJCA Inc.’s Environmental Department is seeking an energetic, team oriented, and experienced Archaeologist to support a growing Cultural Resources team. Projects include a wide range of federal, state, and commercial clients with many new opportunities and interesting locations.

    This position is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

    This candidate may work remotely and use flex to come into either the Indy north or south office.

    Roles / Responsibilities

    The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to-

    • Conducting archaeological fieldwork for multiple projects and at all levels of investigation (Phases I-III).
    • Managing archaeological field staff and archaeological field crews.
    • Serving as a Field Director/Staff Archaeologist.
    • Assisting/leading field assessments related to archaeological projects.
    • Conducting shovel testing and pedestrian surveys.
    • Performing physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged and unfamiliar terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures).
    • Preparing technical analyses and field documentation including artifact analysis, field investigation summaries, and photographic documentation.
    • Providing Quality Assurance/Quality Control for fellow colleagues in the archaeological department.

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Qualified candidates should possess a master’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field, and have completed an accredited archaeological field school
    • Candidates must meet the Secretary of the Interior Standards (36 CFR 61) in archaeology and be eligible for Register of Professional Archaeologists
    • Candidates must be listed/or eligible to be listed on the Indiana Department of Natural Resources – Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology (DHPA) Qualified Rosters list for archaeological consultants.
    • A minimum of five years of demonstrable supervisory experience in CRM is preferred.
    • Basic knowledge of cultural resources management and Section 106
    • Experience with the policies and procedures with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Cultural Resource Office as directed in the CRM Manual is preferred.
    • Midwestern experience is preferred.
    • They must also be capable of skills directly associated with the IDNR/DHPA standard archaeological survey and excavations, including familiarity with historic and prehistoric artifacts and archaeological features, standard documentation of field investigations, preparation of archaeological reports including site descriptions, and feature descriptions
    • A thorough understanding of archaeological site significance recommendations and justifications
    • A technical skill specialty is preferred, such as, but not limited to, historic or prehistoric artifact analysis, GIS experience, archival research, or geoarchaeology/geomorphology
    • Must have good organizational skills, and familiarity with standard office computer applications.
    • Archaeologists are lead authors and coauthors on technical reports that document the results of the investigation and should be able to write well; a writing sample may be requested.
    • The applicant must be able to demonstrate the ability to address project research questions through a synthesis of data from the field, laboratory analysis of artifacts, and incorporation of relevant published research.
    • They must possess a valid driver’s license, be able to operate a four wheel-drive vehicle.

      Description

      Human resources coordinators will oversee issues related to employment, compensation, labor negotiations, and employee relations. Work will be focused on improving HR policies, processes, and practices and recommending changes to HR management.                     Under some supervision of an engineer or another Designer, a CAD Designer will use Computer Aided Drafting & Design (CADD) software to assist in the development of plans, details, and bills of materials. A CAD Designer will also be utilized for initial layout of basic horizontal and vertical geometry, roadway and structure layout, basic design computations, and quantity calculations.
